The Bread for Beggars Festival is a three-day creative/fine arts experience, dedicated to nourishing hungry souls by sharing God’s glory through sight, song, and story.

Are you hungry for some soul food? Are you, like Luther, and every believer before and after him, a beggar in need of God's daily bread?

We are too.

Learn what it means that you are a spiritual beggar and why that is very good news. We, your fellow beggars, have been blessed with bread from the storehouse of our Heavenly King, and we can't wait to share it. Join WELS artists, musicians, and storytellers from all across the country as they share their gifts and talents at the premier Bread for Beggars Festival. During the three-day festival, you will be strengthened and renewed by God's glory, shared through sights, songs, and stories.

Illumine hosts a Songwriting Weekend each summer. Each songwriter who participates is challenged to write a brand new song for congregational use, completely from scratch. Over the course of the weekend, there are also timed songwriting challenges, group discussions, individual writing time, devotions, a talent show, and it all culminates in a New Song Showcase in which each participant plays their new composition for the other participants as well everyone else who is able to attend that Sunday morning.
