2024 Hearts & Hands Visual Artist Weekend Registration
July 26th-28th at Bethany Lutheran College and St. Paul’s in Mankato, MN

The Hearts & Hands Visual Artist Weekend invites students, emerging artists, experienced artists, and art educators for a 3-day event of art-making! This event will provide the space and structure for focus and Christian community as artists develop pitches for projects. Projects may range from artworks, series, films, ministries, workshops, curriculum, websites - anything you have in mind, new or already in-progress!
As art can be a slower medium, our goal is that, instead of completing a whole work in a weekend, artists will complete a pitch package that they will present on the last day of the event. Pitch presentations will be in a show-and-tell style (slideshows are encouraged). This pitch package may include a project description, visualizations, budget, and an artist statement. The goal is that artists return to their studio/school with actionable next steps to make the idea a reality and so serve their community, congregations, specific client/patron, or ministries.
The event will follow a basic eat-keynote-work-repeat schedule. Keynotes will cover topics ranging from professional practice, art education, and why art matters for Christians, creatives, and our world.
Registration is free, though a suggested donation of $50 to help defray costs would be appreciated if you are able.
Dorm lodging at BLC is available. The cost is $25/night for a shared room (2 people) or $50/night for your own room. Find more info and sign-up here. Attendees who prefer to stay off-campus are responsible for making their own reservations.
